So I’ve just signed up for two more races in 2016; the very first Disneyland Paris Half Marathon and the 5k the day before!!
Currently only packages are on sale which work out between £200 and £300 for the budget hotels depending on between 2 and 4 people sharing. This includes park tickets for two days. You can do three days instead for around £100 extra each. The Davy Crockett Ranch does end up being between £20 to £50 cheaper but we need your own transport. All other Disney hotels have their own bus transport to the parks. Race entry is additional at £52 for the half and £22 for the 5k. Prices to book through Disneyland itself are available here but you can only register by phone and you have to pay everything upfront. You can book online through other travel providers who are asking for between £100 to £150 deposit per person and race entry paid upfront and the balance paid between March and July, depending on which travel provider you go with. For both races and two people sharing you’re looking at around £370 per person plus transport. It seems quite expensive but compared with what I’m paying to run Dopey at Walt Disney World in January it’s a bargain really and from what I’ve heard the inaugural races are always the best.
Some people who have booked directly with DLP have been told that they need a child with them enter the 5k but this certainly doesn’t seem to be the case. Other travel providers are not stating this as a requirement so chances are if you get told this that the operator is getting confused with the kids races.
The half marathon, which takes place on 25th September 2016, has an entry limit of 12,000. 8,000 entries are being sold as packages but the remaining 4,000 entries will go on sale as race entry only on 14th January 2016. There is currently no mention about whether any enteries for the 5k, on the 24th September which has a limit of 5,500, or the kids races will still be available. The half and 5k both start 7am. The first RER train would get you into Disney for around 6am based on the current timetable so it is possible to stay of site. Even more so if you take your car with you.
